Libby Derethik & Max Hertz | Fosters & Volunteers

Back in 2015, Max and I got an urgent call from an MCP pack member, that Koda, a staff favorite at CACC, was set to be euthanized the very next day. With literally no experience with fostering or rescue, we rushed down to CACC to see if our dog Sophie would be up for the challenge as well as us. Despite that 1st introduction being far from A+, we couldn’t say no to saving Koda.

Understanding that rescue isn’t always easy after a 1st meet and greet, that connecting with a dog can often take A LOT of time to build trust is something that is extremely important to MCP, which is why we continue call ourselves a part of the Pack.

It’s been 7 years since we first called ourselves foster parents, and over 50 dogs have come through our home since then…all of which were eventually accepted by Sophie as well (all over a bit of time that is).
