Meet Mayari

Mayari

Mayari means Goddess of The Moon; her one eye symbolizes the ability to see beyond superficial appearances and focus of the essence within. Moreover, Mayari’s representation as a strong and powerful female deity aligns with the ongoing movement towards gender equality and empowerment. Mayari- we call her, May, for short is the exact definition of her name. She’s a strong willed presence for things she is passionate about. Her loyalty to that subject and the humans she loves is undeniable. Mayari came to Chicago Animal Care and Control as a stray with a harmed eye. We have a belief system within our Pack that the overlooked brown dogs, that are often deemed “ordinary” by society are the ones that show us how to paint the rainbow. Mayari suffered unimaginable pain and suffering with her eye injury, as when she came into our care— with her eye only partially removed (and how, we do not know). Mayari went through surgery, and has been learning how to dog under the incredibly compassionate leadership of her foster family. She’s attending private lessons as well with our training partners at See Spot Run. Mayari has some leash tendencies of insecurities and our Pack is doing everything possible to set this beautiful girl up with a successful foundation of a bright, and healthy future with her Forever family. She’s also, if you haven’t guessed it, a lap dog of the heart. Mayari is one that bonds and loves hard, she also thrives with learning new things, as she’s very food motivated which makes new adventures all the more fun to become acquainted with. Mayari is looking for humans as dedicated to making the world a better place as she. Humans with conviction in their stride and passionate courage in their hearts. She’s that’s magical brown dog awaiting her Forever after with humans worthy of that power.
