Meet Mira

Mira

Mira’s dream is to love and be loved!  She came to us as a severe cruelty case, and hasn’t looked back. She would love to be with those who are looking for a small gray shadow to follow them wherever they go and never wish to sit on the couch alone again! She also enjoys the company of other dogs, particularly ones that are willing to share their toys and play with her. She has embraced her new life, and approaches new experiences confidently. She enjoys walks, and is honing in on her leash skills, but still needs some practice. Her favorite pastimes include sunbathing, playing with toys, playing with dogs, and hanging with her humans on the couch!  She is eager to learn new things, and wants to please her humans so badly.
With Mira being a cruelty case, she came to us with some physical challenges she needed to overcome.  She’s already made great strides, but still has some more to go.  She gets around wonderfully, but sometimes drags one of her back legs. She also has mild incontinence occasionally, usually when she gets really excited. With the combination of temporary meds and aggressive rehab, she has improved immensely. It is suspected nerve damage that is causing this.  She has been a rockstar at rehab/PT, and would do best in a home that is willing to continue that journey with her. Her therapist believes that it’s possible for her to make a full recovery. Of course nobody has a crystal ball, but she has shown great improvement already. Her injuries have never caused her to be anything less than totally independent. She can run, play, and do everything other dogs can do without assistance with the exception of stairs. She can do the stairs herself, but for safety it’s best that someone is nearby in case she needs a little help. She would do best in a home that doesn’t have too many stairs, or with someone who is willing to put up a pet gate to block her from going up and down on her own when nobody is around.
Someone tried to snuff out Mira’s light, but she showed the world that is not so easily accomplished. She has the spirit of a true warrior, and nothing will get this girl down! Want to meet the love of your life?
