Fostering
Fosters are our lifeline to be able to save lives.
Fosters do have first rights to adopt and we ask that decision is made within 7 days.
We do expect the commitment to fostering remain till Forever is found.
Fostering is hard.
Fosters commit to taking an animal in and most of the time without too much known background. Fosters are what gives us the opportunity to truly get to know our dog/cats and prepare them to be successful in their Forever Homes.
We look for good communication skills, to form an honest and successful relationships. We look for patient, selfless, dedicated humans looking to help make a difference in the world.
What You can expect from us
All humans are welcome into our Pack. There is zero tolerance of discrimination of any kind. We will conduct ourselves with integrity, fidelity, and honesty. We will openly take responsibility for our actions, and only make agreements, which we intend to keep. We will be accountable for the mistakes we make along with way and be sure to learn from those mistakes, in our professional and personal characters. We commit to continue to work hard and continue to educate ourselves on the best practices we believe make MCP, a successful and one of a kind in whole organization. We are all in this together, human, animal and together is what accomplishes our goal of saving lives.
We have Medical Mondays at 401 N Oakley. Fosters are asked to bring dogs in for a check up or multiple depending on the animal. Spay and neuters, if needed, are at different locations. Fosters are matched with a team leader and speak with them several times a week, to daily, whatever is needed. All ideas and questions are answered on the regular and we ask for equal communication, commitment and following of our guidelines for everyone’s safety and success.
Our fosters are also supported, when needed, by our incredible training partners at See Spot Run. Daycare is also offered to our fosters at Pack Life, at discounted rate, if the foster (with team leader approval) chooses to enroll their foster into daycare. Any traveling or vacations by foster, the foster dog arrangements are managed between foster and MCP pack leaders ahead of time. MCP’s intention is to set everyone up for success... Fosters will be guided through the importance of Decompression and understanding of its importance. Decompression is allowing ample time for a new being to gain confidence and understanding of their new surroundings. In setting everyone up for success, this means protecting boundaries. No matter how good, social, sweet the dog is or any being is for that matter, being dropped into a completely new environment is anxiety inducing. We know these dogs are safe. They have no idea what is going on.
We are here to help create successful stories. Everything we do is team effort.
